The Year of the Ox

Happy Chinese New Year. Good thing about this, is if you didn't keep your New Year's Resolutions, you have another chance to start over today!

For New Year's Eve we went to Grandma Wa and Grandpa Ricky's house. We ate lots of yummy food, listened to Chinese monks chanting, got some red envelopes, and watched Grandpa throw firecrackers out the front and back door. And of course, I found myself in a box... this time surrounded by oranges. Oh boy! Were those yummy!!!

clean-cut

Yesterday my parents took me to get my first haircut! Well, my first haircut in a salon... Here is me on the way (my mom thought I was Sooooo cute cuz I am, and so she started taking pictures of me in the car). You can kind of see how mangy my hair was.

Here are a few pictures at the salon. I was a little bit leary of that lady with the scissors, but dad gave me a sucker (please don't call child protection on him, he was careful and very prepared to give me the heimlich if it broke off in my mouth) and it made everything better. Plus I got to wear a cape and watch a video-- I never get to do either of those at home! What a fun Saturday!

A typical Monday night at the Vuongs....

I think I'm gonna do something sneaky to get in trouble. Then that mommy will chase after me and giggle while she's yelling at me... I love to hear her giggle and yell!
Time to go shovel. Dad says everyone has to do their share of work, or no meat for dinner.

I think dad still has some meat on his chin. I'm gonna fake like I'm gonna kiss him and then try to eat it. Mmmm yumm.

Let's all scream like a monkey!!

Seriously. What was life like 13 1/2 months ago?

Happy New Year!

Well, we made it through 2008. It is a new day, a new year, so much ahead of me. This year, my new year's resolution is to learn how to walk, tell my mommy and daddy that I love them (I love you mommy!) and hopefully figure out how to get my parents to stop putting me in random boxes and tubs. Okay, that last one is not very realistic.

Here are a few photos from my 2nd Christmas- I had so much fun playing with the dogs at my grandparents house in Fargo and tearing into everyone's gifts, even if they weren't mine. Aunt Carol from California sent this little statue--- not really sure what I'm supposed to do with it, but my dad thought it was cool and when I touch his head he wiggles so it's kind of funny.

Just a brief update for those of you who I haven't seen in awhile, on what I'm doing these days...

  • Eating everything (especially love Sunday morning breakfasts from dad, pancakes, sausage and eggs, toast)

  • Talking all the time and constantly asking my parents 'what's that', though it sounds like was-at?, even when I already asked them what it was like two minutes ago- super fun!

  • Getting my first tooth! I think another one is on the way...

  • Throwing things on the floor (like my sippy cup of milk) and saying 'Uh-Oh'- this also is a very fun game.

  • Really working hard to open cabinets I'm not supposed to, touch the things my parents tell me not to, and throwing a fit now and then when I don't get what I want. Too bad for me my parents see right through it.

  • I am a dancing machine- I love all kinds of music, especially my grandma Wa's cell phone ring tone.

  • Finally, I got my first pets this month- 4 fish, I mean 3 (that one was never gonna make it anyway).

Happy New Year everyone. Make it the best one yet!
