Easter bunnies

This Easter we stuck around home...

On Saturday we went to Scott's cousins' house for an Easter Egg Hunt. Thanks to Michelle and her amazingly creative family, we had an egg hunt, colored paper easter eggs, and had a yummy potluck lunch. Kiley and Jaxon had so much fun hunting for eggs. I think Scott enjoyed himself too.

Jaxon did pretty good hunting on his own.

Kiley supervised with daddy.

Jaxon looked on as he took stock of what was left on the ground.
And then promptly told us he needed more.

Then today, Easter Sunday, we had a visit from the Easter Bunny. We carefully selected a location to place our Easter baskets last night (right outside Jaxon's room on the bench, by the door. Jaxon's rationale was that the bunny wouldn't be able to pass it when he came in.)

Even at 7am after a very rough night of sleep, I delighted in the wonder and smile on Jaxon's face when he saw that the bunny had brought him some special treats.

The first words out of his mouth were 'Ohmygosh'. The second words were, let's see what kind of candy is in the eggs!

Kiley got into the spirit of things. Okay, she was the one who gave us the rough night of sleep, so I'm guessing she is a little out of here...

But, she sure perked up later when I had her doing a photo shoot. I broke out the hairband ribbons for this one. This is one cute bunny!

the aftermath

The aftermath. It's what I call the time period between 8:15 pm and 9:30...

Our evenings start out a little harried, getting in the door around 5:15 or so usually. They generally start with me setting the mail down, getting Kiley out of the carseat, and heading straight for the fridge. Meanwhile, Jaxon is whining... 'I need something for me to wait' (something while he waits the hours and hours until his dinner arrives at his table).

Sometimes I can find something to keep him busy, like tracing his letters (genius right?).

What's for dinner? Hurry up and throw something together while carrying Kiley because she just can't be bothered to sit in her exersaucer anymore. Scott comes home and we all play, eat, play some more, take baths, play, and eat a snack before going to bed. (Kiley just tries to eat all the toys).

Usually by then, the house looks a little something like this.

And that's just the countertop.

It's the aftermath.

I'm sure someday, I'll look back on these days and think, 'boy, I wish I had someone to clean up after. Now that my kids are all grown up and moved away, I have way too much free time to do the things I want to do, and I just wish I could take care of them, make them bottles, clean up their messes, and trip over thier toys one more time in the middle of the night.'

Or I won't.

Time will tell.

signs of spring

I always know when Spring is right around the corner. There are some clear signs.

Birds singing? Nope. Snow melting? Nope. Longer days? Nope.

The surest sign of Spring in the Vuong house, is an ad on Craigslist for a set of clubs.

The set is generally owned by my dear husband for less than a year until he determines he really needs a new set. What then becomes the hunt for the perfect set of clubs at the right price, also becomes the quest to sell his past season clubs at a higher price than he bought them.

I give him this. It is the only entrepeneurial endeavors I allow him anymore really ;-)

I can't keep it all straight as there are random people coming and going throughout the year for TV's, fish houses and golf clubs... but I think we're on a new set of clubs now, so let's hope they last the season.

Earlier this week, Scott found a good deal on a couple of clubs for Jaxon to replace his plastic version. This is the real deal.

I've seen Jaxon excited. This was beyond excited. He loves to do what Daddy does. So he was really excited when we took him to the driving range- or the 'golf-over' as he likes to call it. Not sure if that is a take on sleepover or rangerover or something else... regardless, here are some photos of the boys in action.

I think he may be a natural!
