Indecision

I have sometimes been accused of being indecisive. If it's a trip to the spa or out to dinner, no questions asked, the answer is yes. But, today I completely struggled with my decision-making capability, and consequently I think we all suffered.

It was Jaxon and me all weekend as Scott made his way up to the woods to ice fish with the boys. It was Target free Sunday at the Children's Museum and I debated back and forth on whether or not to go, knowing it was going to be crazy busy, and knowing that my two year old angel is no longer an angel. Also knowing that my growing belly is causing me to be quite tired and I am no longer the spring chicken I used to be.

But of course, we went. Honestly on the way there, I thought about turning back at least three times. But alas, I promised dinosaurs and dinosaurs Jaxon would get.

But first, we did some drumming in the China exhibit...

cooked an apple over an open flame in the kitchen exhibit...

played a little guitar hero on the open mic stage...

sat on the city bus FOREVER. I had to drag Jaxon away from the motionless metro transit bus so that some other kids could have a chance. My guess, at this point he was just as tired as I was and it felt good to sit down.

Last, but not least, we did see the dinosaur exhibit. However, the dinosaurs are all just a bit too tall and scary to actually take a picture next to, so we settled for climbing on this squishy bridge a half a dozen times.
Looks like we had a lot of fun right? We did. It was a good choice, and we were only there for two hours, so I can't complain too much. It was the half-hour nap in the car ride home that Jaxon thought was his nap for the day that made it a poor decision.
But, hindsight is always 20-20, right?

A new voice...

I've decided that I need a voice. I am more than what I think my son is thinking. For over a year I have tried having my own blog for my floundering jewelry business (there just isn't time in the day anymore!), and another blog (you are here) for the latest happenings in Jaxon's life through his eyes and words (or what I think those words might be as they are still difficult to decipher sometimes).

But, I feel like I have some fun and interesting things to say sometimes too.

Regardless of whether or not they are true or made up things.

Therefore, my new Chinese New Year resolution (since I haven't kept any of my other ones yet)is to use this blog as a combination of my voice and Jaxon's voice, and soon to be little baby's voice. But not Scott's because he rarely, if ever, uses social media. You may see some snippets of things other than Jaxon's life (gasp!) and I'll have to think of a clever name, but it will still be the same blog you look forward to week after week, I promise.

Now, on to the important stuff... pictures of Jaxon ;- )

On Sunday, Jaxon and I spent the morning in our pajamas working on putting Valentines together for the daycare kids. I actually made them, but had Jaxon color on the backs and help me put the candy in the cups.
Clearly, this was his idea of fun!

Especially when there is the 'One for me, one for Lily' concept going on...

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Grrr...it's the year of the Tiger!

Yesterday we went to Grandma and Grandpa's to celebrate Chinese New Year's Eve. No crystal ball dropped, but dad lit some firecrackers and I sure got a lot of red envelopes and filled my belly full of yummy food. Much more exciting that traditional New Year's Eve!

I know the value of a good red envelope...

That fish you see there. My daddy caught that in Canada. It was real tasty. Can't say much about the abilone (mom didn't care for it), but the rest was pretty good. Grandma is a good cook! Especially the pound cake!

Before dinner we lit some incense and waved it around... not sure what it did, but I'm guessing it blesses us for the year?

Then, dad lit off some firecrackers. I think this is supposed to scare away any evil spirits. Perhaps the neighbors as well.

I sure thought it was funny though!
Here's to a great New Year to everyone!

more fishies!

Someone got a little excited the other night to go to Cabella's and see the fish because his parents said they were going to go there after dinner, but then they didn't and since they'd promised someone that they could see the fish, they went to PetSmart and ended up buying one. Boy, if you could have seen the joy the moment the sales lady handed Jaxon his fish... here's hoping it lives!

Hope he doesn't think he's buying a fish from Cabella's next time we go there!

shoveling and winning bets with grandma

This weekend I did a little shoveling with dad. I think I need a new shovel though.

Yes, that is our driveway. It's just a little snowpack, no big deal. It'll melt eventually...

Good thing I won that Superbowl bet with Grandma....

I'm making her count it all out before giving it to me. And just to be sure, I'm counting with her- 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 7, 6... okay, so I don't have my order down yet, but we'll get there!

Breaking news- Jaxon eats his green beans!

I know I know, it's been forever. Just a quick note to let you all know I haven't forgotten about you! As soon as my mom can figure out how to save a video file and upload it, you'll get some laughs in.

Oh, and breaking news-- I started eating vegetables this week! Let's see how long this new year's resolution lasts... so far, three days this week, except I wish they'd stop giving me green beans and trust that I'll try something else!
