Not too long ago, Jaxon learned the phrase 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle'. It's how the Hood family got him to collect everyone's trash and sort and throw it away--look out Ella, you're probably next in line to be the 'garbage kid'. But it seemed like a good idea to capitalize on his learning and expand his knowledge base a little more.
So this year, we celebrated Earth Day.
First we acted silly though.
And of course, we had to hire the right supervisor for this job. Kiley was on board for that since all she had to do was sit and watch us while she ate her crackers.
We managed to clean up the baseball fields by our house and filled a whole gap bag. Jaxon's thoughts were, 'There sure are a lot of chips around here.'
Kiley still wasn't quite sure what she was supervising.
Finally, on our way home from the blue park, Jaxon decided we needed to run the entire way to get away from the storm clouds that were chasing us. Run mommy, run! Faster! Too bad I already had run 4 miles and done yoga this morning. Mommy's legs were tired!
But with Jaxon's enthusiasm, and Kiley's bewildered supervision, we managed to outrun the storm cloud and made it home in time.
I can honestly say, this is one Earth Day I will not soon forget.
When Jaxon was going to bed tonight, he asked if tomorrow is going to be Earth Day too. Or possibly next week? I think he enjoyed himself too. It may not be Earth Day, I told him, as that only comes around once a year. But, I said, we can always go on another 'garbage walk' whenever we want to.
He liked that.
